Mr. Jimmy came to visit us in March and every morning we took Millie on a walk, which we both enjoyed. While on our walks we would always see a beautiful red cardinal tagging along. One day, we stopped and admired the cardinal and Mr. Jimmy smiled and said "That's Ellie; she loved cardinals and said that if she could be any bird it would be a cardinal". From that moment on (while Mr. Jimmy was visiting), the red cardinal was a regular on our yard, chirping and jumping from branch to branch.
We've seen the red cardinal, which we named, Ellie, from time to time and we've made it a point to always stop and chat with her and thank her for visiting. The visits are not long, but we treasure those moments. Today's visit was different.... Steve and I were watching Le Tour de France when we heard a thump on the window, we looked at each other and figured a bird had crashed into our window, so we ignored it and continued to watch T.V. Moments later, we heard the thump again and this time I stood up and noticed the red cardinal looking at us while standing on the fence. I immediately said "It's Ellie, visiting us", I quickly grabbed my camera and we went outside. I was able to get some decent shots. The beautiful red cardinal hung out on my garden sign and flew around us for a few minutes. It was a wonderful visit. . .
I really believe our loved ones who have passed on, always stay with us in one way, shape or form. Look around you and see who is visiting YOU. :)

How interesting!
ReplyDeleteDid Ellie fly into your window? Random, I know, but I have to ask because my family has an old "wives tale" I guess about birds flying into windows and souls . . . I'd never heard anyone else mention it before. . . .
Love you!
Sarah
She hit our window twice; she didn't get our attention the first time. What's the old wives tale about?
